Frequently asked questions
Subscription
How do I cancel my Rival Pass? Apple manages all subscriptions. To cancel:
- Open iOS Settings
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Pick MotoRival and tap Cancel Subscription
You keep access until the end of the current period. We can’t cancel for you on our side — it’s an Apple rule.
How do I get a refund? Refunds are handled by Apple, not by MotoRival. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the MotoRival charge, and request a refund.
My subscription doesn’t appear after I paid. What now? Open the app → Settings → Restore purchases. Wait a few seconds. If nothing happens, fully close the app (swipe up) and reopen it. Still nothing? Email us with your Apple receipt and we’ll dig in.
Can I switch from weekly to yearly? Yes. Cancel the weekly in iOS Settings, then subscribe to the yearly inside the app. Apple normally credits the unused portion of the weekly automatically.
Account
How do I delete my account? Open the app → Settings → Delete my account. Confirm. All your data is wiped within 30 days. Territories you owned become capturable again by other riders.
This action is irreversible. Your handle, photo, ride history, and stats can’t be restored.
I lost my account after reinstalling the app. Can you restore it? Your account is bound to your iPhone via the Despia iCloud keychain. As long as you reinstall on the same Apple ID, the account should restore automatically.
If it doesn’t, email us with your old handle and any details that prove it was yours (last ride city, crew name, etc.). We’ll do our best, but recovery isn’t always possible.
How do I change my handle, motorcycle, or country? Open the app → Profile → tap your avatar → Edit profile. The country can be changed once per month.
Riding & GPS
My GPS doesn’t work. What now? Try the following, in order:
- iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → MotoRival → set to While Using
- Make sure Precise Location is on (the toggle right below)
- Step outside — GPS doesn’t work indoors
- Restart the app
- Restart the iPhone if all else fails
Why doesn’t MotoRival score speed? By design. Scoring speed on public roads would be irresponsible and would expose us legally. MotoRival is a territory game — what matters is where you ride, not how fast.
Can I use MotoRival as a passenger? Yes. The app doesn’t know if you’re the rider or the passenger. Just remember: never look at the screen while the bike is moving.
A ride I just finished isn’t saved. Why? Two common causes:
- The ride was under 1 km — we don’t save micro-rides to keep the activity feed clean
- The GPS signal was bad (tunnel, dense city) — too few valid points to commit a ride
If you think a real ride got dropped, email us with the approximate time and location.
Crews
How do I create a crew? Open the app → Profile → Join or create a crew → Create. Pick a name and a colour. You become the captain.
How do I join an existing crew? You need an invitation code from the captain or another member. Open the app → Profile → Join or create a crew → Join → paste the code.
How big can a crew be? Up to 8 members.
How do I leave a crew? Open the app → Settings → Crew → Leave crew. Your contribution to the crew’s km² stays in the historical record but you stop accumulating new km² for them.
Bug reports & feature requests
I found a bug. Where do I report it? Email support@motorival.app with the subject prefix [BUG]. Please include:
- Steps to reproduce
- What you expected to happen
- What actually happened
- A screenshot or screen recording if possible
I’d love to see feature X. Where do I suggest it? Same email, subject prefix [IDEA]. We read every message even if we don’t reply to all of them.
Privacy & data
What data does MotoRival collect? See our Privacy Policy. Short version: a Device ID, GPS during rides, your public profile, and ride stats. No legal name, no email, no phone number, no instant speed, no GPS outside rides.
Can I export my data? Yes. Email support@motorival.app with subject [GDPR EXPORT] and we’ll send you a JSON dump within 30 days.
